Reading a spec sheet

What the numbers mean

The same four figures decide most hardware comparisons. Here is how to read them.

Hashrate
How many hash attempts a machine makes per second, quoted in MH/s, GH/s, or TH/s depending on the algorithm. Only compare hashrates within the same algorithm.
Power draw
Watts drawn at the wall under the manufacturer's stated conditions. Real draw varies with firmware, temperature, and power supply.
Efficiency
Power divided by hashrate, for example joules per terahash. Lower is better, and it usually matters more than raw speed once electricity is paid for.
Status and date
Current, legacy, or announced, with the date the specifications were observed. Figures can change, so every spec links to its source.
